My OB/GYN said that after 35 weeks, pregnant women have to get tested for Group B Strep so I had to get another vaginal exam where they stick a stick test in there. It was quick and painless. It's not like a cervical exam where they stick their fingers in there.
They said that about 20 - 30% of women have this and they want to find out ahead of time to ensure the baby doesn't get infected during delivery. It can cause stillbirth and serious infections for some babies.
I haven't gotten a call from the doctor's office and it's been almost a week so that's good news. In the hospital world, most of the time "no news is good news".
