Happy April Fool's Day! A few weeks ago, I wrote a blog about mastitis and how I was admitted to ER for this painful infection in my right boob. Well, I thought about it some more today and wondered how many breast feeders get mastitis? Is it a high percentage? I tried to look for a study on that but couldn't locate it.
The hospital gave me antibiotics to treat it and it went away a few days after but how did people treat it pre-antibiotic days? Did a lot of mothers die from it?
I'm glad I'm producing enough to feed my now 7 week old baby and I'm also more glad that I'm a mother in the modern days where medicine is advanced and there is easy access to it.
Let me know in the comments below if there is a study on the stats of this.
