When my son was about a couple of months old, he started getting eczema around his arms and legs. I was really worried that he was allergic to our dog. It was something I was very suspicious of because I am allergic to cats and some dogs.
He was born during the winter in South Carolina so his skin got really dry from the heater in our room and the cold outside. At the time, the only lotion I used was Johnson's baby lotion and after I would apply it on his skin, it would get so red. I was so s... Continue reading ...

As a first time mother of a 4 month old baby, I've learned so many things about taking care of a baby. However, there are certain things I wish I knew so I could make a better decisions about some of these things early on.
1. Flat Heads Every reading source and and health professional would tell me to put my baby on his back to prevent SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome). What they didn't tell me is that this can cause flat heads. I noticed my baby started getting a flat side on the back of hi... Continue reading ...

I'm one of those first time mothers who are showing some overprotective traits. After I gave birth to my son, I decided to not post any pictures of his face on social media. With facial recognition and the digital world making it hard for privacy, I want to make sure my son has his first years as private as possible and away from crazy creepy old men's eyes.
The gift of privacy is something a lot of mothers think about on Facebook. Well, I am going to give my son that gift. I had that privacy... Continue reading ...

When I was 21, I had no idea if I was ever going to get married or when I was going to have kids. I was a senior in college, finishing my last semesters for my bachelor degree and just started discovering alcohol. I graduated at 22 with my degree and started working full time right away. I realized quickly that working full time is so overrated. We go to school striving to get good grades and work hard for a degree and now I'm at an office working 9-5 and living for the weekend.

It seems like nowadays, breastfeeding and pumping are consuming most of my time. Ever since I had mastitis (see older blog post), I have been religiously pumping every 3-5 hours (depending on how much my son fed from my breasts) so that I don't get too engorged and feel pain again. Between diaper changes, feeding, comforting the baby when it's fussy time, bath time and comforting him to sleep, pumping is my #1 priority for any free time I have. Here are the things I miss since giving birth to... Continue reading ...

I feel guilty for feeling this way but it's the truth. I am extremely annoyed by my dog now. It started when I was pregnant. I would get really mad when he jumps on my belly because I was afraid he'll knock me over or hit too hard on the fetus. Even when I tell him no, he would do it so it got to the point where I had to become unfriendly to him so he doesn't try to do that to me when when I get home. That means I don't pet him anymore or play with him. Well, it worked while I was pregnant an... Continue reading ...

I was 5 weeks postpartum when I went to the ER a week ago because my right boob was hurting so bad and I was having chills and fevers up to 103 degrees. It was a Saturday and my husband called my OB/GYN office in the afternoon that day to see if we can get a doctor to prescribe me some medicine instead of going into ER. He called twice and there was no response from a doctor so we rushed to the emergency room to ensure my fever doesn't get worse after my last reading was 103 degrees. My assum... Continue reading ...

My husband and I decided to not take professional maternity photos for my pregnancy. It was due to a combination of forgetting, delaying and not wanting to spend money for pictures of my unattractive big belly. I figured I'd just wait for my child to be born to take family photos.
Anyway, since I am growing very massive today at 37 weeks and 4 days pregnant and there is a chance that the baby might arrive earlier than expected, I decided to take some selfies. People say that your nose grows w... Continue reading ...

I guess when I get to my 50s, I might be this way but as a 30 year old and being surrounded by a lot of 40s and 50 year olds, I noticed that old timers are not susceptible to change.
With new technology, there is always going to be new tools introduced to an industry. Not only old timers don't accept the new processes easily, they even outwardly complain. They have no problem or shame and voices their frustration even before the process and changes have happened.

The day before New Year's Eve, I was so bummed out when I found out that one of my friends was throwing a party and that I couldn't celebrate with them because I lived so far away. It made me really home sick. They are thousands of miles away.
But then when New Year's Eve came, I was already tired by 8pm. How could I possibly stay up and party anyway if I were still in San Diego? I would not have had much fun and would not be of good company to any of my friends since they are not pregnant an... Continue reading ...

I'm almost 33 weeks pregnant and I currently go to the office 4-5 days a week to work. I recently became a real estate agent because marketing positions are slim here in my town. I started going to real estate school when I was about 3 months pregnant and after I received my real estate license, I started working for a real estate office when I was 5 months pregnant.
However, before that, I was trying to find a job and started doing some part time work when I was 3 months pregnant (around the... Continue reading ...

We were craving for dim sum so we researched for places with dim sum near where we were during our road trip and found Dim Sum House is Morrisville. Conveniently located not too far from my highway exit, it was easy to spot the big sign for the restaurant.
The exterior of the restaurant is definitely something you would find in North Carolina. Covered in brick with bold signs, this has got to be the most sophisticated exterior I've seen for a dim sum restaurant.

Ever since we found out I was pregnant, my husband and I decided to not tell our parents until the first trimester is over. I've heard of so many stories where people had miscarriages and the biggest risk is during the first trimester. Since I've never been pregnant before, I don't know what to expect from my body and to save everyone future heartaches and ourselves some possible public pain, we decided to wait. I know my husband's mother have had 2 miscarriages but I'm not sure about my mom.... Continue reading ...

I was watching a movie about freedom earlier tonight and it affected me in a way that brought some sad memories of when I was a child.
I remember when I was about to turn 12, my parents started comparing me to my friends. No matter how well I did in school and how good of a kid I turned out to be, they were never proud of me and always had negative things to say. When I was in summer school before I went to middle school, I wanted to take a drama class since it was part of the summer school o... Continue reading ...

I've been a housewife for the last 3.5 months and realized that there are many advantages and disadvantages for being a housewife without kids. We've been married for 6 months now and after my husband left the military when his term was over, we moved across country 4 months ago for a new adventure for his new job as a civilian. I had to leave my job behind as well.
At first I was scared about being home with just our dog while my husband was at work. I overcame that fear and it helps to have... Continue reading ...

My parents want to visit my husband and me next month and stay for a week but I really don't want them to. We recently moved to the East Coast from California after we got married so we've lived in our new home for 2 months now. We got married four months ago so we're newlyweds.
I hinted to my mom that she should just stay for 5 days because it'll get boring but she insists that they stay for a week. Seriously, when I was living in California, I only see her for half a day once a week because ... Continue reading ...

Now, as a native San Diegan, I don't see snow often so when I saw snowing falling a lot for the first time, I was ecstatic! I was also very intrigued by how the trees looked with snow on top. I must say, it does give me this sense of serenity when I see this. I really do enjoy it, just as long as I don't have drive in the snow often.

I debated whether I wanted a veil after I tried on some wedding gowns with it in May. I didn't like the way I looked with it because I'm already so short but now I'm debating on it again for my last fitting later this month at David's Bridal.
I have little kids there who probably appreciate that. My cousin's daughter is so excited about my wedding, she keeps my wedding invitation in her purse. That is so cute.
Then I debated on having a birdcage but ever since Lady Gaga appears with birdcages ... Continue reading ...

I am having our wedding reception at a hotel and my contract includes for 150 guests. Do we count ourselves, bride and groom in this number or is this usually complimentary since we are not the guest?
I sent my catering manager an email about this and they said our meals are not free so we have to include ourselves in the "guest count" for food. My friend said her reception at the country club said she didn't have to include herself and the groom in her count.
