I was prescribed prenatal vitamins after the doctor confirmed that I was pregnant in June. It has folic acid which is supposed to be really good for expectant mothers. For some reason, I always get really tired and sleepy after I take them. I started taking them every day at the beginning and I would just get so tired, I couldn't do anything else but sleep. However, every time I would forget to pop one in my mouth, I wouldn't be tired that day. Then, I started to just switch off every other day to test my observation and it was obvious that I only get tired and sleepy after I take the vitamin. It's weird that this happens huh? Now I only take them before bed so that I can still do the things I need to do during the day.

Whenever I can't sleep though, I just take a prenatal vitamin and I'll quickly fall asleep. At least I've found a safe remedy during pregnancy when I'm sleep deprived. I tell some of my nurse friends about this and they don't think that this could happen and would say that I'm only sleepy because I'm pregnant. True, I was really sleepy during my first trimester but I was consistently sleepy every time I took the prenatal vitamins.

Does anyone else have the same symptoms? I do try to eat healthy so that I'm not reliant on prenatal vitamins to get proper nutrients for my body. I'm now 36 weeks pregnant and the baby has been healthy and normal. Overall, I've gained about 20 pounds since I've gotten pregnant.
